PMA8000G Audio Panel

The flagship series, the PMA8000G

The PMA8000G includes flightmate(R). flightmate(R) is a system that allows the pilot to create their own audio alerts, check lists and emergency procedures, and to play back radio calls. The addition of a 10-Watt USB charger as well as a new front panel makes this audio panel a true enhancement to the cockpit.

PS Engineering PMA8000G: flightmate® Voice Alerts in the Familiar PMA8000-Series Layout

The PMA8000G is the most capable member of PS Engineering's PMA8000 series. It was the first audio selector panel to include flightmate®, a built-in digital recorder that lets the pilot record spoken alerts, checklists, and emergency procedures. It keeps the PMA8000-series approach: dedicated controls, including a front-panel music volume knob, rather than menu screens.

It's a natural fit for owners who already know the PMA8000 family or who are replacing a Garmin GMA340 or GMA345. Premier Aviation Tucson installs the PMA8000G at Tucson International Airport. Call 888-960-4288 for a quote.

flightmate®: Alerts in Your Own Voice

flightmate® is the reason most pilots choose the 8000G. It does three jobs:

  • Four pilot-recorded aural alerts. Each is tied to a discrete input, such as a low-voltage warning, gear, or an engine monitor limit. When that input changes state, you hear your own recorded message until you acknowledge it, not a generic tone.
  • Audible checklists and emergency procedures that you record through your headset microphone using a few front-panel key presses.
  • Instant radio playback. A continuous loop recorder lets you replay the last ATC call you missed or weren't sure you heard correctly.

Using the four alerts means wiring those discrete inputs to the right sources in your airplane. We plan that wiring with you when we quote the installation.

Everything Else the PMA8000G Brings

  • IntelliAudio® dimensional sound with Com 1 at 10 o'clock and Com 2 at 2 o'clock in a stereo headset
  • Bluetooth® phone and music, with PS Streamer to send cockpit audio to a Bluetooth-capable video camera
  • 10-watt USB charging port on the front panel, with short-circuit protection
  • Split mode for dual audio panel capability, so pilot and copilot can transmit on separate radios
  • Six-place hi-fi stereo intercom with IntelliVox®, Soft Mute™, and Active Static Control to cut constant background hiss
  • Two differential stereo music inputs (no ground-loop noise), with selectable music distribution for passengers
  • Four unswitched inputs for alerts that must always be heard
  • Marker beacon receiver, available with or without

PMA8000G or PMA450B?

Both include flightmate®, and both drop into a GMA340 tray. The choice comes down to how you like to work the panel:

Installation at Premier Aviation Tucson

The PMA8000 series is plug-and-play with the Garmin GMA340 and GMA345, which keeps the basic swap simple. The extra time on an 8000G install goes into flightmate®: identifying the right alert sources, wiring the discrete inputs, and recording and testing each alert with you before the airplane leaves. As an authorized PS Engineering dealer, we handle the harness so your factory warranty stays valid.

PMA8000G Questions We Hear Most

What is flightmate on the PMA8000G?

flightmate is a digital recording system built into the audio panel. It lets the pilot record four spoken alerts tied to discrete inputs, create audible checklists and emergency procedures, and replay recent radio calls from a continuous loop recorder.

Will the PMA8000G fit where my Garmin GMA340 or GMA345 is now?

Yes. PS Engineering's PMA8000 series is plug-and-play with the Garmin GMA340 and GMA345. Using flightmate's alert inputs requires additional wiring, which is planned as part of the installation.

How much power does the PMA8000G USB port provide?

The front-panel USB port provides up to 10 watts with short-circuit and over-current protection, enough to keep a tablet charged in flight.

Does the PMA8000G have Bluetooth?

Yes. It supports Bluetooth phone calls and music streaming, and includes PS Streamer for sending cockpit audio to a Bluetooth-capable video camera.

Should I choose the PMA8000G or the PMA450B?

Both include flightmate and fit a GMA340 tray. The PMA450B adds an OLED softkey interface, two independent Bluetooth modules, 15-watt USB-C charging, and nine IntelliAudio positions. The PMA8000G suits pilots who prefer the PMA8000-series layout.
